The Minister of Security of the city of Buenos Aires, Waldo Wolff, will face an interpellation next Tuesday in the Legislature by the Union for the Homeland (UxP) block due to the escape of detainees from a municipal jail in the neighborhood of Caballito. The session will take place starting at 2 PM in the Security Commission of the City parliament.
In a statement issued by the porteño Peronism, it was reported that the request for Wolff's presence was made this Monday in response to the escape of six detainees who fled in a taxi from the Communal Jail 6 of Caballito. From Union for the Homeland, they expressed: "Our block wants Wolff to come to the Legislature, not to tell what we already know, but to explain what the City’s plan is so that once and for all, detainees stop escaping."
UxP legislators highlighted that the City faces a critical situation with a 62% overcrowding in detention facilities and more than 2,000 prisoners distributed among police stations and jails in different neighborhoods. Amidst the criticisms, Jorge Macri announced measures for economic assistance to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty and a record investment of more than $85 billion in security.
Opposition deputies pointed out that this escape adds to ten others that occurred in police stations and jails across the City during the first year of Jorge Macri's government, and for this reason, they have been demanding explanations.
